Use the effective group
For the model shown here, a queen is trump, including a queen printed with a club, heart or spade. Treating the printed suit as its playing group gives the wrong starting point for a follow-suit question.
Read the situation in context
The card explorer labels the group. To decide a legal response, consult the complete reference and the player’s actual hand. The five face-up cards in our example tool cannot establish that a player was entitled to make that play.
Keep special situations separate
Called-card obligations and concealed-card arrangements need their full rules. Our basic comparison tool is not a referee for them.
